Thanks again for the late night blog, Todd! Agree with pretty much everything you wrote. To be fair to the kids, everyone not named Sedin had either a mediocre or bad game. Alberts and Weber were brutal, Alberts needs to be waived IMO but I bet he'll stick somehow as a #7 guy. I'd rather keep up Corrrado. It's not like third pairing d-men never get double digit minutes like 4th liners so I don't buy the "it's better for him to be a top pairing guy in the AHL" argument. He's better than Alberts and Weber and deserves to be here.

Weber is purely an offensive defenseman. He's going to need someone who is reliable defensively next to him. Weber's got a great first pass and can shoot the puck. Shame to lose that. It's exactly what this team needs.

I like him as a #7 guy, bring him in when the team is lacking on the PP or offensively. But Corrado deserves to be ahead of him and Alberts. I'd rather waive Alberts and maybe watch the waiver wire for a similar big, physical d-man. Alberts hurts this team more than he helps it, the guy is a slow skating PIM magnet.

Yeah, Alberts doesn't register on my radar at all. Never considered him a viable option. Not sure why he's on the roster. He's never shown me why he belongs there. Not once.

He's had some okay stretches when he's not taking penalties, but his downside is way worse than any upside he brings. At best he's average, at worst he can cost you a game.

For me, you just described Aaron Rome perfectly. And Rome was way better than Alberts.

Waste of cap space and a roster spot.

Lots and lots of games coming against SJ who I heard tonight has beaten us 9 straight games now going back beyond the playoffs. I know the Canucks will be better...but so will SJ... and LA... so on so forth.

I really dont know how to judge tonights game. We looked good at times, Lack looked really good at times. But his glove side was really slow.

Is this just our guys not giving a flying fukk its the preseason. Or were we really tht bad?

I've always been one who told the trolls over the last couple of years that sure were starting to slide a bit, But I still consider us contenders.

Look what the Kings did in 8th place!?!?!

Nowadays I think its really starting to set in that we dont have a chance in hell.

This year will either be a tremendous success or and unmitigated disaster.

I think we will carry 8 D, 4 right and 4 left. Weber and Alberts will be the 4th right and left.

Brutal game by Alberts and Weber for sure. Weber needs a mobile stay at home pairing, not AHLberts.

In the end the kids stunk also. we need to sign a few vets to round out the bottom - there are some very good players out there still. Hopefully we can get some in.

Weber is just a sucky version of M-A Bergeron, trust me.

let me just tell you, Roman Hamrlik was so bad for the Rangers last spring, single handily lost game 5 of the playoffs vs Boston, I don't think there is a chance in hell Torts would ever even remotely consider having him on his team ever again.

I liked your assessment Todd. Have to say it is the first one I liked. Most of them were just facts and stats. This one had opinion . Nice.

Why do you guys need a guy like that anyways ? Isn't that what Garrison is for and also Edler to some extent ? or is Edler a flashier defensive guy ?

Be careful what you wish for. They may have been our best but it wasn't good enough . Don't throw away boatloads of money and not surrounding them with other talent.

I think at best we will fall between the 10-15 best overall this year in the league and should look at moveing one or two key pieces to bring in the scoring and grit.
